Josh Provow
Josh Provow, together with his five kids, have lived in Bulgaria since July 1, 2015. Josh was a single parent until he married Bea in 2025. As far as we know, they are the only American-Brazilian family with five kids in all of Shumen. 😉
Josh’s favorite verse:
“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” -Habakkuk 3:17-18

- To live out the aforementioned verses and to rejoice in the Lord and in whatever He has for him
- For he and Bea to have a strong marriage that shows that love of Christ and gives a living example of a Christian home
- To ordain a Bulgarian citizen to take over the role of pastor
- To establish healthy churches throughout the Shumen Province and for those churches in turn to establish other churches

Sunday School
Bulgarian Protestant Church “New Life” has a free Sunday school.
Every Sunday during the sermon the kids have a fun, age-appropriate lesson in the children’s room. After the sermon, they come to the front and share what they have learned. Our teacher will make sure that they have fun and learn something new from God’s Word through a lesson and hands-on activity.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”(Matthew 19:14). We believe that in our chaotic world only God’s Word can give a child clear boundaries of good and evil and can help protect a child from the fate of so many youths who follow the path of sin.
English for beginners
For those that want to learn English, we offer free courses for adults. They are on three levels: beginner (A1), upper beginner (A2) and intermediate (B1). But let’s be honest, if you are on the English version of our site, maybe we should talk about you helping as a teacher!
The courses follow the school calendar from October until the end of May.

Bible Study
We desire for every person to understand what God expects of them. The answer to this most-important question is found in the Bible.
Every week we gather in the conference room of the church as we discuss the Gospel of Luke verse by verse.

Recorder Lessons
While the adults are in Bible study, the kids are gathered in the adjacent room for lessons on a world-famous instrument: the recorder!
These lessons are intended for kids. And besides being fully free, the instructor will provide the instrument and it will remain as a gift for the child after the course. Right now, the kids are learning Christmas songs which they will present to the church at our Christmas service.
